Democracy from the Roman Empire to the European Union

About the Project

Original project title: Demokrácia a Római Birodalomtól az Európai Unióig

The project helps young people understand the development of European democracy through historical and contemporary examples. From the legacy of the Roman Empire to the workings of the European Union, it explores how collective decision-making, citizens' rights and participation in public affairs have evolved.

Travel and shared learning help participants connect historical sites and institutions with social issues today. The programme provides space for exchanging opinions, asking questions and comparing different perspectives.

The aim is to bring young people closer to European values, encourage reflection on their own role as citizens and help them recognise that democracy depends on their understanding and participation too.
