From 24 to 27 October 2025, the KA210-ADU project delivered another international mobility programme around Debrecen and Tiszalúc, welcoming a delegation from Székelyszentmihályi Unitárius Egyházközség.
In line with the project's aims, the programme introduced environmental awareness, sustainable lifestyles and circular thinking through practical examples applicable in rural areas. It also developed participants' green competences and key competences.
Activities Included:
Conservation Up Close – Hortobágy Bird Hospital
On the first day, we visited Hortobágy Bird Hospital to learn how a centre rescues injured birds. It demonstrated the practical importance of protecting biodiversity and how a community can take shared responsibility for nature.
Environment and Culture – Hortobágy Bridge Fair
During the visit, we attended the well-known Hortobágy Bridge Fair, where local producers, craftspeople and small-scale sustainable businesses presented their products. The visit connected with the project's aims of conscious consumption, using local resources and valuing traditional knowledge.
Learning in the Landscape – Lillafüred Forest Railway, Fazola Furnaces and Trout Farm
The next day, we travelled to Lillafüred on the forest railway, reflecting our commitment to environmentally friendly transport. An exhibition about the Fazola furnaces explored the relationship between nature and industrial heritage. The excursion ended at a trout farm practising sustainable fish farming, where participants learned about locally raised fish and environmentally conscious production.
A Cultural Gathering in Tiszalúc
Meeting the local community offered opportunities to build relationships, discover local values and traditions and strengthen the friendship between the two communities. It also developed intercultural competences, another key aim of the mobility programme.
A Székely Watchfire – Sharing Traditions on the Final Evening
We concluded the mobility programme by lighting a symbolic Székely watchfire. This was a gesture of respect for tradition, shared belonging and living cultural heritage. Conversation, singing and experiences around the fire built an emotional connection between the two communities, bringing the days of learning and discovery to a fitting close.
